The minimum amount of wealth one must possess before Zakat becomes obligatory
Note: Nisab is calculated based on the value of gold or silver. If you possess wealth (cash, savings, investments, etc.) equivalent to the value of 7.5 tola of gold or 52.5 tola of silver, and this wealth has been in your possession for a full lunar year, then Zakat becomes obligatory.
Zakat is one of the Five Pillars of Islam - an obligatory act of worship that purifies your wealth and helps those in need.
Nisab is the minimum amount of wealth you must possess before Zakat becomes obligatory. It is calculated based on the value of gold or silver.
Enter all assets that have been in your possession over a lunar year into the Zakat calculator. This will then give you the total amount of Zakat owed.
Nisaab threshold: 612.36 grams of silver or 87.48 grams of gold (or its cash equivalent)
If your total assets exceed the value of silver or gold mentioned above, Zakat becomes obligatory.
